I Want to Read More Books in January and Plan a New Blogging Strategy!

BLOGGING, BOOKS, LIFE, OTHER / Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018

Hello, wonderful people! Welcome to Aimee, Always.

I’m finally back, and back with a vengeance, might I say–I think I’ll stay for longer than a post or two this time. *fingers crossed* The shiny, new self-hosted blog and domain name are a good sign, yeah? Tell me what you think in the comments. *wink*

Anyway! Since it’s the new year, I wanted to start the blog off with some reading goals for January, plus a quick rundown of my new blogging strategy for the month. Any suggestions and recommendations would be fabulous, both for reading and for blogging. I’ve been so out of the bookish community the past year and have almost zero idea of what I’m getting myself into this time around!

So, how many books do I want to read in January?

“Want” is such a tough word. want to read 10 books in January (since I averaged around that number per month before), but that’s highly improbable. *cries* In 2017, I read a total of 10 books for the whole year. THE WHOLE YEAR! I went through a year-long reading slump that I hope never to get into ever again. So I don’t want to pressure myself. I’m going to set my goal for the month to a very generous 3 books. I can do that, right? I’m already in the middle of my first book of the year, Bookishly Ever After by Isabel Bandeira(You should definitely follow me on Goodreads for updates. Heh.)

Are there any books in particular that I want to read?

Well, yes, actually, thanks for asking. I purchased a GORGEOUS hardcover of Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust and would definitely love to read it ASAP. I’ve heard a few really good things about it, plus the synopsis is super haunting. Have any of you read this one? I LOVE the cover as well.

Please feel free to recommend more books I should read! YA preferred, of course.

So the blog is CLEARLY new and I’m still in the process of fixing everything (moving followers, fixing up social media sites and links) so that’s the first thing I want to have done by the end of the month! As for my blogging “strategy”, there will definitely be some changes from how I previously blogged:

  • Quality over quantity: I used to churn out around 2-3 posts a week, but maybe that’s too much for me for now. This time around, I might stick with 1-2 posts a week. This is also to avoid blogging burnouts. *shudders*
  • Mailing list: I’m using MailChimp now to host a mailing list, to make updates more personal and pleasing to the eye, so don’t forget to subscribe!
  • Pinterest: I’m on Pinterest! And I’ll be pinning more about books and blogging. Leave your Pinterest usernames below so I can follow you!

Leave a link to your blog below–I need to get back in the blogging world ASAP. I’ve missed you guys!

Did you think this post was as lovely as you are? *wink* Subscribe to our mailing list and leave a comment below!

  1. I’m so glad you’re back to blogging! I missed reading your posts but I completely understand the burnout you experienced. I went through the same thing in 2017. I hope you stick with blogging because I love reading your posts and we need your voice in the blogging world!

  2. Aimeeeeeee! Oh my god, look at you all grown you adorable little human! I can’t believe you’re 18. I remember when you were a 14 year old reading 50 Shades of Grey. You’ve been so terribly missed. Juggling school and blogging, there’s no chance I would have been able to without breaking down and especially when you place almost impossible expectations on yourself. I’m very chill now. I might blog twice a week or twice a month, no plan. Just seeing where the blogging wind takes me. I’m stoked you’re back little poppet and can’t wait to hear what else you’ve been up to <3

    1. BAHAHAHA, KELLY. I can’t believe I’m 18 too, and DEFINITELY over 50 Shades of Grey. Heh. Yes, chill is GOOD. So glad you’ve found your flow!! I can’t wait to read more from you too! <3

  3. I have missed your blog!! Also, this blog design is LOVELY. I took quite a bit of a break from blogging, too, and even though I sort of re-started early last year, I’m REALLY trying hard to get into the flow of things this year. Like you, I’m not going to churn out too many posts, because I feel like the quality of it will then suffer (not saying that bloggers can’t put out regular posts with great quality–it’s just that I personally can’t.) Also one thing I’m telling myself… Just ENJOY IT. Blogging is work, yes, but it’s still supposed to be FUN, you know?

GIRLS MADE OF SNOW AND GLASS looks awesome, too. I’ve heard so many great things about it!

    1. Thank you so much, Kara!!! <3 Definitely agreed. We all got into this because we wanted an outlet where we can have fun and be ourselves, not to turn this into an obligation. ^_^

It's SO PRETTY. I'm only a chapter in, though.

  4. I’ve actually abandoned my lofty goals this year 🙂 read 100 books last year, but this year I just don’t want to have to stress myself out about it! So I just settled on 52 for the year 🙂

Oh you’ve moved the blog! I wonder if I’ve been in your old one then. #memoryholes

My pinterest username is the same as everything else, avalinahsbooks 🙂 I’ll be following you as well.

  5. Sorry it took me so long to come visit Aimee! I LOVE YOUR BLOG! I had this [brilliant?] idea of rebranding and starting a new blog [you visited my old blog Our Familiarium] and it took me FOREVER!

I think you can probably relate sine you are doing the same 🙂

I love your strategy! I’m doing 3 or more a week just because I was introducing the new blog but I’ll be doing 2-3

I hope you share more about mailing lists I used them when I started blogging and then didn’t like it!

Pinterest! I HEART IT SO MUCH 🙂 Looking forward to your pins 🙂
